Rome: The Design, Building Methods, and Construction Theories
of Hadrian’s Pantheon

All of my inspiration for this research project on the construction
of the Pantheon came from visiting the site, something that
would not be possible without my international experience
last fall.
Our classes were a block from the Pantheon and consequently,
I visited the space several times per week. With an architecture
background and several classes in structures and construction,
it was natural for me to wonder about how the Romans erected
the dome of the Pantheon. I was able to apply the knowledge
gained at the School of Architecture at UC Berkeley to
conduct a body of research abroad at the UC Study Center in
Rome
to gain an understanding of an existing building and to
perform a critical analysis of its construction methods.
