An Eye for an Eye

I am currently studying political science in Mexico City. On September 11, this year [2002], I attended a one-day conference entitled “11 de Septiembre de 2001 Impactos y Repercusiones: Perspectivas desde Mexico.” The “war on terrorism” has left an economic, political, and cultural trail all over the world. One year after the destruction of the World Trade Center Towers, we should keep the memories, mourn the losses, and celebrate the lives of those 3,020 innocent lives lost. Honor their memories by ending the circle of violence. This is a difficult task, but as a country, the U.S. should set an example in using a controlled and humane response. Everyone knows, “An eye for an eye makes everyone blind.”
