Four thousand
Education Abroad (EAP) students are expected to plunge into the challenges
of unfamiliar and mind-bending academic and social learning during
2003-04. They will be preparing themselves for careers in a California
heavily dependent on world trade. They will be equipping themselves for
effective citizenship in a troubled time when understanding of global
issues, be they environmental, cultural, political or economic, will be
critical to the survival of a democratic society. They will be relishing
the adventure, building new coping skills and learning within a context of
diverse histories, customs, pedagogies, languages, attitudes and diets.
