 Tales from the
Cloud Forest
Students become scientists in Monteverde, Costa Rica
Every fall and spring about 25 UC
students set out for the cloud forests of Costa Rica. They go expecting to
do the prescribed curriculum: lectures, field trips, Spanish language, and
independent research based on field experience.
But something else happens there, and
they come back as scientists and researchers.
