Paper and Printing

UOEAP reduced white copy paper use by 60% in 2008, saving:

  • 450,000 sheets of paper
  • 7 tons wood (~54 trees)
  • 88 million BTU’s (~1 home/yr)
  • 13,000 lbs CO2 equiv (~1 car/yr)
  • 24,000 gallons wastewater and 5,200 pounds solid waste
  • Environmental impact estimates made using the Environmental Defense Fund Paper Calculator.
  • The cost savings are also significant: roughly $10,000 in paper, toner, and other consumables.

Tips for reducing printing

Note: Some of the steps in the documents below may vary depending on the model of your printer.

2009 Target: If we each print 4-5 fewer sheets per day we can reduce our paper use by another 30%.

Drop them off at our Recycling and Reuse Zone located under the black counter in the supply room off of the copy room. Note: We cannot take E-Waste or Hazardous Waste. The links above will tell you how to properly dispose of such items.
