Graduate Online Application Process

Before You Begin

UC-Specific Instructions for On-line Application

Each campus provides the following special instructions for EAP graduate Reciprocal Exchanges applicants. See below. You may wish to print these instructions for reference as you apply online.

Follow these instructions so that you can be identified as an EAP applicant and exempt from application fees.

After You've Applied On-Line

A copy of your online applications, supplemental documents and EAP forms must be sent to UOEAP by the UC Liaison at your home university, so that we can coordinate recognition of your application as an EAP No-Fee/Non-Degree applicant with your potential UC host campus.

EAP reciprocity students are not eligible for financial aid or fellowships.

    • Public Health: Do not complete the SOPHAS application.
  • On-line Application
  • Special Instructions
    • Graduate Division Application:
      • Proposed department and degree program: Choose the academic program and CWO as the degree option from the drop down menu.
      • Non-immigrant categories: Select J1-Student
      • Alternate Contact (access to information on the status of your application): Enter "EAP, uc-reciprocity@eap.ucop.edu"
    • Departmental Application:
      • Check with your department for specific requirements.
      • Follow departmental procedures for letters of recommendation. Some departments may ask for letters to be submitted online.
    • Fellowship Application:
      • Do not complete this section of the application.
    • Financial Form
    • Application Fee: Do not pay this fee; Do not apply for an application fee waiver.
    • After applying, inform UOEAP:
      uc-reciprocity@eap.ucop.edu with the subject line EAP application submission, in the text include your full name, UC of application, home university, department (and program), link to departmental requirements webpage, email address, password and identification information used.

UC Davis

    • Letters of Recommendation must be submitted electronically through the online admissions application system.(No hard copies will be accepted).
    • Financial Form
    • Application Fee: In the application fee section, choose the pay-by-check option but do not send in payment.
    • After applying, inform UOEAP:

UC Irvine

    • Choose "no degree" code "00".
    • Application Fee Waiver: In the application fee section, choose the pay-by-check option but do not send in a check. Once the application is submitted, email both the Graduate Division, jitoh@uci.edu , and UOEAP, uc-reciprocity@eap.ucop.edu, with the subject line EAP application submission, in the text include your full name, UC of application, home university, department (and program), link to departmental requirements webpage,email address, password and identification information used.
    • Do not send in application fee payment.
    • After applying Please notify UOEAP if you do not receive an email acknowledgment of your online application within 7-10 days of its submission.

UC Los Angeles

    • Transcripts: Two official copies of transcripts are required.
    • Supplemental Materials forms: Supplemental Information form, Statement of Purpose form, Letter of Recommendation form (three letters are required), Confidential Financial Statement.
    • Application Fee Waiver Instructions:
      • Biographical Information-item 9: Select "no".
      • Biographical Information-item 10: Select F-1.
      • Plans for Graduate Study-item 2: For Application Type select "EAP" from the drop down box; If your "study center" is not listed, contact uc-reciprocity@eap.ucop.edu
      • Academic History- Intn'l applicants do not need to calculate a Grade Point Average.
    • Acknowledgment Receipt: Email acknowledgement receipt to
      uc-reciprocity@eap.ucop.edu with the subject line EAP application submission, in the text include your full name, UC of application, home university, department (and program), link to departmental requirements webpage,email address, password and identification information used. Notify UOEAP if you do not receive an email acknowledgment of your online application within 7-10 days of its submission.

UC Merced

UC Riverside

    • EAP Affiliation: Note your EAP affiliation in the “drop-down” box that lists organizational affiliations.
    • Degree Objective Box: Disregard the degree objective shown with the program chosen.  It will be changed by the Graduate Division to reflect your EAP status.
    • Application Fee: Print, sign and submit the disclaimer form with your application to ensure you will not be assessed this fee. Do not send in application fee payment.
    • After applying, inform UOEAP:
      uc-reciprocity@eap.ucop.edu       with the subject line EAP application submission, in the text include your full name, UC of application, home university, department (and program), link to departmental requirements webpage, email address, password and identification information used.

UC San Diego

    • Departmental Requirements: Check for department specific requirements.
    • Statement of Purpose Guidelines
    • Letter of Recommendation Guidelines May be completed on-line or using paper form.
    • Financial Resources form: Form is given to international applicants upon acceptance of an offer of admission from the institution.
    • Application Fee: Fill out the online application completely, but do not submit. Instead, send an email with the subject line EAP application ready to submit to uc-reciprocity@eap.ucop.edu. Include this information in your message: your full name, UC of application, home university, department (and program) and link to departmental requirements webpage, email address, password and identification information used. This tells UOEAP that your application is complete and ready for us to electronically submit on your behalf. Do not send in an application fee payment.

UC San Francisco

There are currently no instructions for applying to UC San Francisco.

UC Santa Barbara

    • Major: Select "EAP Reciprocity Non-Degree Objective".
    • Application Fee: Use "pay by check" default but do not send in payment.
    • Preliminary Application: It is not necessary to fill out a preliminary application. These are for applicants seeking a UC degree only.

    • After applying, inform UOEAP:
      uc-reciprocity@eap.ucop.edu       with the subject line EAP application submission, in the text include your full name, UC of application, home university, department (and program), link to departmental requirements webpage, email address, password and identification information used.

UC Santa Cruz

    • Program (preliminary question number 1): Select the "non degree" option next to the program, if available
    • Fee Waiver (preliminary question number 3): Select YES
    • Departmental Requirements: Check for specific requirements.

    • Application Fee: Fill out the online application completely, but do not submit. Instead, send an email with the subject line EAP application ready to submit to uc-reciprocity@eap.ucop.edu. Include this information in your message: your full name, UC of application, home university, department (and program) and link to departmental requirements webpage, email address, password and identification information used.
