Host InstitutionsHighlightsThe University of Bologna, the oldest university in Europe (founded in 1088), is one of Italy’s finest research institutions. It enrolls close to 100,000 students from all over the world, providing the opportunities that are to be found in a large multicultural setting. Bologna has strong departments in political science, Italian literature, history, art history, communication, foreign literature, and women’s and gender studies. (details) Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna: Fine arts students may take courses at Bologna’s Academy of Fine Arts. With adequate preparation and consent of instructor, non-majors may enroll.
