Highlights

The University of Hyderabad (UH) has a student body of about 2,000 and is situated on a sprawling, green campus about 12 miles from the metropolis of Hyderabad. UH’s Study India Program is interdisciplinary, with a wide variety of courses, including social sciences and humanities field studies, focusing on India studies with a special emphasis on South Indian history, culture, and language. Special opportunities for students are available through the Centre for Folk Culture Studies and also the UH School for the Performing Arts with excellent dance, theater, and studio art course work. Students attend classes with international and host country students.

Language of Instruction

English

Language Study

The program begins with a four-week intensive language program (ILP) in Mussoorie, a charming town in the foothills of the Himalayas. Students will be offered the choice of studying Hindi or Telugu. Continued Hindi or Telugu language instruction is required during the fall semester.

Units

Students are required to take a full-time course of study while abroad. During the semester, students enroll in three courses.

ILP: 6 UC quarter units

Term: 18 UC quarter units

Housing

Students are assigned to the University of Hyderabad student hostels or placed in privately owned accommodations near campus. Students live with other UC students, international students, or host country students (details).
