Germany: Semester Programs in English in Berlin: Berlin European Studies (BEST) at Free UniversityHost InstitutionFree University, Berlin HighlightsEAP’s fall and/or spring semester program is taught in English at Free University in Berlin. The program features first-year German language study and a range of course work in the humanities and social sciences that focuses on German and European studies. Duration Fall semester: late August to mid-December (calendar)
Qualified fall students may extend their EAP participation to the spring program. Academic FocusUC students enroll in a course in beginning German in addition to three non-language courses taught in English that focus on Europe, Germany, and/or Berlin. UnitsStudents are required to take a full-time course of study while abroad. Approximately 24 UC quarter units are required (about four courses). Approximately 29 units will be earned on the spring intensive language track. HousingStudents live either in homestays in private homes with German families, or in apartments with UC and other American students. All student housing is organized by the host university.
