France: Graduate Program, Ecole Normale Supérieure, Paris (ENS rue d’Ulm)

Host Institution

Ecole Normale Supérieure, Paris (rue d’Ulm)

Highlights

Graduate students may participate in one of two options: they may follow research seminars, or they may be assigned a tutor in their discipline who will provide help in making outside connections to facilitate their research. ENS is very competitive and is recommended only for academically strong graduate students with well-developed study, research, and scholarly agendas. Founded during the French Revolution in 1794, ENS enrolls about 750 students and has a teaching staff of 125. ENS occupies several buildings in and near the Rue d’Ulm in the Latin Quarter, near the universities of Paris I-V, as well as numerous book stores, cafés, and intellectual meeting spots. (details)
