Denmark: Language and Culture Program, University of Copenhagen

Highlights

The two-month summer language and culture program is designed for beginning students of Danish who also want to gain an introduction to Danish culture. Usually the program can also accommodate students with greater proficiency in Danish. Students attend classes at the University of Copenhagen, which offers language instruction, state-of-the-art language labs, and field trips to enhance practical skills and cultural immersion. The program also serves as the required intensive language program (ILP) for year students at the University of Copenhagen. (details)

Duration

Summer: late June to late August (calendar)

Extension is possible from the summer to EAP fall or year options at the University of Copenhagen. A residence permit must be obtained prior to departure from the US. (Sophomores are not permitted to extend.)

Academic Focus

Students attend classes with other UC students and international students.

Language Study

Language study is an integral part of the program.

Units

Students are required to take a full-time course of study on EAP. Students in the summer program take two courses in Danish language.

Summer program: 13.5 UC quarter units
ILP for fall/year: 6 to 13.5 UC quarter units

Housing

Depending on availability, UC students will live in university-affiliated dormitories, rented rooms, or apartments with other UC students, international students, or host country students. (details)
