Education Abroad Program in Spain

In honor of UCEAP alumni from 1964-1968

and in recognition of

50 years of partnership with Complutense University

 

Please save the date for a reunion trip to Madrid, Spain

 November 5-8, 2014

 

Itinerary for 50th Anniversary Celebration in Madrid*

Day 1 · WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 5TH

Reconnect with your fellow Madrid alumni at an intimate casual dinner (by year or one group, depending on total numbers) at a local restaurant. Possible restaurants include: Casa Lucio or Capitan Alatriste Tavern.

Day 2 · THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 6TH
Welcome reception at Pabellón de Gobierno, Complutense University Madrid. Event includes welcome program with introduction by UCEAP Executive Director, Madrid Study Center Director and Complutense Vicerector of International Relations. After the program, enjoy meeting with current UCEAP students for a discussion about the impact of studying in Madrid, both 50 years ago and today. After the program there will be a hosted lunch followed by a Ruta de Complutense campus tour by bus, including a stop at Facultad de Filosofía y Letras and guided by a UCM faculty expert.
 
That evening there is an optional Flamenco show at Café Chinitas. Dinner is not included. You are free after the show to enjoy dinner with friends or to explore Madrid on your own.
 
Day 3 · FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 7TH

Your morning is free for personal exploration or join us for an academic lecture (details on the academic program to follow). In the afternoon join us for a guided tour to the Thyssen or the Prado museum followed by a Spanish cheese and wine tasting at Poncelet.

That evening is our 50th Celebration dinner and reception at Jai Alai. There will be a welcome reception accompanied by traditional Iberico ham. Enjoy a sit down dinner on the upstairs terrace while listening to Spanish guitar and opera singers. Included in the evening will be a tribute in memory of Carmen Usobiaga.
 
Day 4 · SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 8TH

Optional day trip to Toledo includes a private bus, guide, entrance ticket to the Cathedral and Synagogue, and lunch at the Hostal del Cardenal.
