UC Education Abroad Program:
We Offer UC the World

Since 1962, the University of California Education Abroad Program (EAP) has been the UC systemwide international exchange program. Serving all ten campuses, EAP supports the mission of the University of California through instructional activities and exchange relationships around the world.

  • Over 60,000 UC students have participated in EAP and graduated into careers in private industry, public service, and academia.
  • Approximately 550 UC faculty have served EAP as UC Study Center Directors, Visiting Professors, and program instructors.
  • Over 20,000 international students have completed non-degree study at a UC campus through EAP’s reciprocal exchange agreements.

Currently, in over 30 countries with nearly 250 program options, EAP:

  • Provides diverse and comprehensive program options of varied design and duration
  • Assimilates EAP course work taken abroad into UC degree and graduation requirements
  • Partners with top-ranked universities, institutes, and faculty around the globe
  • Integrates UC financial aid and scholarships to provide equal access for students
  • Presents opportunities to explore diverse linguistic, cultural, and intellectual traditions
  • Offers language instruction and perspectives that expand on courses available on UC campuses
  • Includes unique research, internship, and community service options in most locations

The cost of EAP programs to UC students is typically far less than the cost of non-UC study abroad programs.

EAP does not slow degree progress; the average time to graduation for EAP participants is slightly less than that of non-EAP undergraduates.

EAP provides the opportunity for students to become international citizens. Through study abroad, students gain skills necessary for success in the global environment and become prepared for their careers in our rapidly changing world.
