UCEAP is offering $500,000 per year in new scholarships to expand study abroad opportunities.
Study Abroad scholarships for the 2012-13 academic year are available for an incredible variety of quarter, semester, summer, and year-long programs at top academic institutions around the world.
The UCEAP $500,000 Scholarship Initiative includes dozens of different scholarships for all kinds of study abroad programs and participants.
The amount awarded for these scholarships will typically be: $3,000 for year-long programs, $2,000 for semester/quarter programs and $1,000 for summer programs.
- For students with financial need: 54 scholarships totaling $100,000, including awards for year-long programs, semester/quarter programs, summer programs, and 50th Anniversary UC Faculty-led Summer Programs.
- For transfer students: $30,000 in total
- For veterans: $10,000 in total
- For students participating in a second UCEAP program: $30,000 in total
- For programs in non-traditional locations: $25,000 in total
- For programs designated as “special program opportunities”: $50,000 in total
- For STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) majors and for UCEAP STEM programs: $35,000 in total
- For UCEAP Language and Culture programs: $40,000 in total
- For year-long UCEAP programs: $50,000 in total
- For recent UCEAP participants who will be Student Ambassadors for the program: 2-3 scholarships per campus, totaling $50,000
- 50th Anniversary Scholarships: A total of $50,000 awarded by individual campuses on behalf of UCEAP
- Jasmine Jahanshahi Scholarships: 2 awards of $2,500 each for semester- or year-long programs
In addition to these new scholarships totaling $500,000, UCEAP will continue to offer scholarships through the Duttenhaver Scholars Program, which will disperse more than 30 awards of $5,000 for year-long programs, and the Dan Wise Memorial Scholarship, which will award up to 10 scholarships of $5,000 for year-long programs in France.
Application deadlines and specific eligibility requirements will be announced in February 2012.
